Message from the NCHE Regent

Greetings! I am Marque D. Macon, FACHE, and it is an honor to be your new Regent for the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia through March 2027.
- Joined ACHE – 2013 (Former member of Chicago Health Executives Forum (CHEF) & ACHE of Greater Charlotte)
- Attained FACHE Designation - 2018
- Chapter President, ACHE of Greater Charlotte - 2019

As an industrial engineer, I made a unique journey into healthcare as a lean/Six Sigma practitioner. I quickly learned the value of ACHE membership and have maintained active membership over the past eleven years. I am experienced in practice management, quality improvement, and operations management. I reside in Alexandria, VA with my wife Jenay, who will soon be starting the palliative medicine fellowship program at MedStar Health. I am an avid reader who enjoys the outdoors, physical fitness, and all things Clemson.
2024 ACHE Congress Recap
We had a wonderful time at ACHE’s 67th Congress on Healthcare Leadership in Chicago from March 25-28. ACHE achieved record-breaking attendance with over 5,400 healthcare professionals registered. I, along with nearly 30 other healthcare executives, were elected or appointed to serve ACHE. Click here to meet the new ACHE Chair officers. National Capital Healthcare Executives (NCHE) had a strong showing at this year’s Congress, with over 224 members in attendance.
On the Wednesday of Congress, our chapter hosted an engaging networking reception. It was a pleasure to connect with over 40 NCHE chapter members and guests. I enjoyed conversing with so many amazing leaders! If you missed it, we hope that you can join us next year. The next ACHE Congress will be in Houston on March 24-27, 2025. Save the date!
Fiercely Forward
On Saturday, March 30, I had the pleasure of joining my first NCHE board meeting. I marveled at the amount of engagement and enthusiasm from each member of the board. The team aims to move fiercely forward to serve you in an even greater way! Be on the lookout for robust educational programing, membership advancement events, and enhanced tools to support members on their journey to attaining the FACHE credential.
Get Involved, Give Generously
We value your expertise! I challenge each of you to get engaged with ACHE through the local chapter. Contact us if you’d like to join one of our committees. Additionally, we encourage you to support ACHE’s bold mission to raise $1 million for the Fund for Healthcare Leadership by March 2025. Scholarships from the Fund help diverse, talented individuals acquire the skills and training they need to forge a career path in healthcare leadership. The Fund supports participation in ACHE’s Career Accelerator Program, the Executive Program and the Thomas C. Dolan Diversity in Executive Leadership Program, as well as additional educational opportunities presented during the year.

Education & Networking Events

It has been an honor serving as your Director of Operations. Together with Amos Chery, our Director of Programs, and our valued partners, we are committed to providing as many educational opportunities as possible.
To date, we’ve successfully offered 3 In-Person and 1.5 Qualifying Education credits, alongside our vibrant networking events. We are excited to announce that we are actively working to ensure the rest of the year is packed with events that will maximize educational and networking opportunities for all NCHE members.
We continue to collaborate with our established partners and are also forging new relationships with other organizations to co-sponsor events. This allows us to diversify the topics we cover and expand the locations of our events. Diverse topics ensure that our educational offerings meet the varied interests and needs of our members, while diverse locations make it easier for more people to participate.
Stay tuned as we finalize our plans. Keep an eye on our social media posts and check our website, NATIONAL CAPITAL HEALTHCARE EXECUTIVES (NCHE) - Meeting/Event Information (starchapter.com), for a list of upcoming events. If there’s anything more we can do to support your professional journey, please let us know. We also welcome partnerships for hosting educational and networking events.
Don’t forget to sign up for the Mentorship Graduation Ceremony and Education Event on July 11th! This event offers a chance to witness the graduation of our mentees, earn 1.5 in-person education credits, and enjoy valuable networking opportunities.

Member Advancement Committee

We are excited to announce the formation of the Member Advancement Committee (MAC) within the National Capital Healthcare Executives (NCHE). To be led by Andrew Obelgoner, FACHE, the MAC is dedicated to supporting our members in their journey towards becoming Fellows of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
With approximately 30 members currently pursuing Fellow applications or exams, and many more up for recertification in the coming years (57 in 2024, 77 in 2025, and 83 in 2026), the MAC will play a vital role in their continued professional growth. This committee not only enhances individual careers but also elevates healthcare leadership standards.
BOG Exam Study Course

NCHE, in collaboration with the ACHE Navy Regent Advisory Council (NRAC), is excited to support our members on their journey to achieving Fellow status. This initiative is designed not just for those looking to advance their careers but also offers an opportunity for established FACHE-certified professionals to give back as volunteer instructors.
Mark your calendars as the FAP kicks off this September after Labor Day and spans 10 weeks. Each week, participants will dive into a new topic, gaining in-depth knowledge and practical skills to enhance their leadership capabilities in healthcare.
We're looking for both eager learners and experienced leaders to join us in this enriching program. Whether you're aiming to be board certified or guide others, FAP is your chance to connect and grow.
