Avni parekh - George washington University

Avni Parekh is from Orange County, California and obtained her B.S in Biochemistry from University of California Riverside. She is currently a 1st year MHA student at George Washington University at the Milken Institute School of Public Health. Prior to starting her master's degree, she worked for three years in clinical trial operations as a clinical trial assistant (CTA). As a CTA, Avni worked closely with cross-functional departments to ensure FDA audit readiness of clinical studies. Avni currently sits as the Communications Chair for the GWU MHA Student Association. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering at her local yoga studio, hiking, and painting.

Akshaya chinnathevar ramesh - george mason University

Akshaya Chinnathevar Ramesh moved to the United States in 2016. She is a 2nd year MHA student at George Mason University. Akshaya was trained in India as a dentist with two-plus years of clinical experience working in public and private dental practices, which provided resident interns valuable exposure to broad segments of the population. Akshaya’s most memorable and transforming clinical experience occurred when volunteering at senior living homes and orphanages in Tamil Nādu, India. Meeting the needs of these patients reinforced her interest to pursue her studies in health management. Graduate studies have provided Akshaya terrific insight into understanding the U.S. healthcare system and have offered the opportunity for exploration and comparative analysis to healthcare systems in India. Health sciences, health services, and health protection have always inspired Akshaya and drove her interest in Health Administration. “Rising Healthcare Leaders @ Mason (RHLM) is close to my heart,” says Akshaya, who is currently serves as the student organization’s President. The primary objective of RHLM is to open up the platform for students to enhance their career advancement through networking and other activities. Taking up the leadership position, Akshaya is enthusiastic to collaborate with present and future healthcare leaders. |

Ryan Smith - Georgetown University

Ryan Smith is from Danville, Virginia, and received his B.S in Religion from Liberty University and his M.A. in Nonprofit Administration from North Park University. He is in his first year of the MHSA program at Georgetown University, excited to use his knowledge and experience to serve as a leader in a community health center, focusing on serving the safety-net. He currently works with the National Association of Community Health Centers, working in the Primary Care Association and Health Center Controlled Network relations division. Ryan enjoys exploring Washington D.C.’s parks and restaurants with his husband and friends. |
